Lisa Dorfman, MS, RD, CSSD, LMHC, a leader to industry the public and the press for more than two decades, is Director of the Graduate Degree program in Nutrition for Health & Human Performance, Dept. of Kinesiology & Sport Sciences at the University of Miami. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, Board Certified Professional Counselor, Diplomat of The American Psychotherapy Association, Certified- ISAK certified anthropometrist, USAT&F & USA Triathlon coach. Lisa is personal nutritionist for many professional athletes, including those in the NFL, MLB, PGA, USTA, US Boxing, USA Taekwondo and was the US Sailing Olympic and Paralympics Team Nutritionist for the Beijing Olympics. In 2008, Lisa was selected to be a member of the inaugural USOC Sport Dietitian Network to assist the United States Olympic Committee in providing nutrition coaching services to the National Governing Bodies (NGB’s) and Olympic/Paralympic Teams.
Lisa has built a diverse portfolio including: a clinical career in over 15 hospitals and medical centers; corporate programs at numerous Fortune 500 and major financial, law public and private institutions; consultant with the Federal Correctional System, Metro-Dade Police, US Department of Customs, and for The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA); as a culinary dietitian working with chefs and staff worldwide at Sandals Resorts, Ritz Carlton, Doral Saturnia, and Bitter End Resorts in the BVI and as an educator at Johnson and Wales University & Miami Culinary Institute. In 2010, she expanded her practice to NYC, consulting to the Julliard School of Performing Arts, Columbia University & BodhiZone Sports Performance Centers.
A media spokesperson, Lisa has worked on dozens of TV, radio and print campaigns. Lisa has represented Tropicana, Rockin Refuel, Gatorade, PowerBar, PopChips, SOYJOY, Quaker Oats, Frito Lay, Weight Watchers, Proctor and Gamble, Wishbone, Laughing Cow/BabyBel Brands & numerous other companies in Satellite Media Tours (SMT), ground & remote (GMT/RMT) tours worldwide. She is the author of six books, including her latest, Performance Nutrition for Tackling Stress (Momentum Media, 2013); several book chapters, former nutrition editor for SoBeFit Magazine & is a columnist for Miami Sports Magazine. She has appeared on 20/20, Dateline, Good Morning America Health, FOX News, CNN, MSNBC and ESPN and the NBC, CBS & ABC affiliates and has been featured in numerous publications including: USA Today, Newsweek, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Men’s Fitness, Men’s Health, Runners World, Marie Claire, O, Glamour, Vegetarian Times & Shape magazines.
As a leader in her profession, Lisa was a National Media Spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association ’03-’08, and served as chairman for the Nutrition Entrepreneurs (NE), Vegetarian Nutrition (VN) and Dietetics in Developmental and Psychiatric Disorders & public relations director for the Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists (SCAN) Practice Groups (DPG). She has also been an ongoing educator, counselor and coach to the USOC, USAT&F, USAT, USTA & The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). She was selected by her colleagues as Recognized Dietitian of the Year and has been named to Who's Who in American Women.
Known nationally as “The Running Nutritionist™,” Lisa is a competitive runner and triathlete who has competed in more than 34 marathons (PR 2:52:32), IronmanUSA Lake Placid, dozens of half marathons and 1/2 ironmans, and hundreds of running and multisport races. In 2004, she competed for the United States on Team USA at the World Long Distance Duathlon Championships.
